I have not dropped off the face of the earth. It’s just been a very busy month. What’s been keeping me busy? Let’s see… I was out of town for a few days, I’ve been trying to get rid of a nasty cold, and I’ve been doing a LOT of substitute teaching. I also put in a day of volunteering with the fourth grade classes when Children’s Art Network came and did a super fun and fabulous program. So all of that has not left me with much time nor energy for stamping.
I have created a few cards, though. For the last few years, on behalf of my son’s elementary school’s PTA executive board, I’ve been making birthday cards for the faculty and staff members. So I’ve had to create five cards this month: for two homeroom teachers, a special education teacher, a custodian, and the principal.
I realized last school year that in order to make this easier, I should just use one or two layouts and change the colors, designer papers, etc. to suit the recipient. So I have one layout for homeroom teachers and one layout for the various other faculty members. Then for the principal I do something more unique.
Here is an example of what I’ve been doing for the “miscellaneous” faculty and staff. This is the card I used for the school secretary. I dressed it up a little bit with some sponging and with the Prima flower and the brad. I figured she deserved that for all the stuff she has to put up with from the teachers, parents, and students. (Let’s just say that I do not envy her job. And she truly does a great job of learning all the students’ names and remembering which class they are in, and knowing which parents match up to which students.)
I’ll share the principal’s card and the layout I use for the homeroom teachers in later posts. But before I forget, here’s the supply list for today’s card:
