Today’s card was done for a challenge at Splitcoaststampers a couple of weeks ago.  We were to get inspiration from an online shop, Candy Crate’s Retro Candy Store. I found some bubble gum which immediately made me think of my neglected Best of Cluck stamp set. I decided to borrow my color scheme from the inspiration candy, too.  The layout is, IMO, an “oldie but goodie” – Lizzie Anne Designs Sketch Challenge #81.

As I was working on the card, I had a recipient in mind for it.  The little red chick represents my friend, who doesn’t seem to mind being her own unique person.  Inside the card I’m planning to write something like “to a chick who stands out from the crowd.”  I hope she likes it!

Today I’m sharing the birthday card my husband and I gave our 14-year-old son.  Our son takes after his dad and loves doing all things computer.  (OK, so he takes after his computer-addicted mom a bit too.)  I felt these images from Lizzie Anne Designs were particularly fitting for him.  Once again, I used the LAD weekly sketch #113.

I didn’t want to make a red and pink valentine for my husband – that’s just not his thing. I just received an order from Lizzie Anne Designs Friday and wanted to use some of my new things. I totally adore this tree image, and thought this designer paper would go well with it.

It wasn’t until after I’d finished the card and came online that I realized I’d used colors for last week’s SCS color challenge. Even though I’d peeked at the color challenge earlier in the week, I didn’t make this card with those colors specifically in mind.  The layout is Lizzie Anne Designs sketch challenge #113.

I decided to share a couple valentines today.  These designs are going out to my parents, my husband’s parents, and my niece.  I have to confess that both layouts are CASEd from cards I found in the gallery over at Splitcoaststampers.com.

This card borrows its design from a card my friend Victoria posted a few years ago.  Thanks, V, for the great layout! I added a panel, raised the stamped heart up with dimensionals and did a little piercing around the heart.  I hope the design in the paper on the focal panel shows in the photo. It’s very subtle. But it matches the design in the strip underneath the ribbon. I had some difficulty with the sunlight available yesterday cooperating with me and getting the colors to show true.

The layout for my second card today was inspired by this one made by SCSer Jace.  I don’t know if she’ll see this post but anyway, thank you Jace!  Mine’s more cutesy with the scallops, and I switched to a monochromatic color scheme.  I hope to use this layout again sometime with the squares like Jace used.

Hello!  Today I’m sharing two cards with you.  These were made at stamp club in January, so I give my Stampin’ Up demonstrator credit for the overall card design.

As you can see from the photos, they are basically the same card, just with different color schemes and images.  I drew in the wire for the birds to perch on and the shelf for the cupcakes by hand.  There’s some glitter on the hearts on the bird card, but glitter and I do not get along well so it looks kind of funky.  Oh well.  On both of these cards, the light-colored card is attached to a 5.5″ x 4.25″ base mat of the colored cardstock, for a little variation on the typical card size.

Today, I have another birthday card to share.  I combined two of the recent challenges at Splitcoaststampers for this one… Color Challenge #256 for the color scheme, and Clean and Simple Challenge #52 for the layout.  I decided to pull out my nearly forgotten distressing tool for this one and roughen up the edges a bit.

Have you ever had a time where you’ve suddenly remembered you need to mail a card right away – but you haven’t made (or bought) the card yet?  I have to confess that happened to me yesterday.

A couple of the Splitcoaststampers Clean and Simple challenges were lurking in the back of my mind.  I combined them for this card by using the layout from one and by using designer paper to create some of the elements on it.  If I’d had more time to work on this, I would have added some sponging, or possibly would have swapped the pink and white layers.  It looks a little stark to me the way it is.  But it’s in the hands of the postal service now, so I just have to hope it brightens the day of its recipient.
