Hi everyone! Welcome to my stop on the Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps Cards with Critters Blog Skip! I’m delighted to be included in this pint-sized blog hop showcasing cards with various animals.  You should have come here from Becca’s blog, Expressions.  But if you just happened to stop by and want to find the beginning, please go to the OWH Stars and Stamps blog to get back to the start.

As soon as I saw the theme of the blog skip, I knew I would use some of my Lawn Fawn critters.  The trouble was picking which one, or ones, to use!  So I narrowed the choices down to about seven favorites and asked my friends on Facebook to help me.  Cat, rabbit and dog received the most votes, so I decided to use all three.  I’ve combined them on a birthday card that I feel is suitable to send anyone – boy or girl, man or woman, adult or child.  I stamped the hats on a scrap piece of cardstock, colored them, cut them out, and then adhered them to the image panel, so I could work them around the animals’ ears.  The layout for this card is one of the older OWH Stars and Stamps sketches.  I like it because it’s a quick and easy one to put together.

Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps also has a lot of really cute animal images in both clear stamp and digital stamp formats, and I wanted to use something from their product line, too.  I chose this simple Rhubarb the teddy bear image, stamped it on brown and dusky pink designer paper, and then pieced the pink stomach onto the brown bear.  I pulled some coordinating papers from the same 6″ x 6″ paper pad and used them for the background of the card and the sentiment panel.  I used last week’s Freshly Made Sketch for the layout this time; it’s another pretty simple one to put together.  This card turned out a little more pink and feminine looking than I had originally planned.  Oops.

One of my cardmaking goals this year is to use a lot of my older designer papers. I’ve accomplished that with both of today’s cards; these papers date back at least to 2007! Eeeeep! 😆

So there you have it – two critter cards.  I hope they inspire you to create something with an animal (or two or three!) for Operation Write Home!  Your next stop on this blog skip is Marlene’s Cubbyhole Creations. Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you’ll visit again soon.
