Hello there, and happy Saturday to you!  Can you believe it’s October already?  There’s less than 3 months until Christmas – but if you’ve been playing along at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown, you should have built a nice stash of holiday cards ready to use during the swiftly approaching season.

This week we have a sketch challenge for you.  I have to be honest and admit that I wasn’t terribly thrilled with the sketch in its graphic form.  Something about the double blocks wasn’t sitting right with me.  However, now that I’ve worked with it, it wasn’t so bad.  And I’m pretty pleased with how my card ended up. Then again – it’s hard not to like a card with these super cute birdies.  I stamped the birds twice – once on the “snowy” polka dotted paper, and once on a scrap of white cardstock.  I colored the ones on the white cardstock, fussy cut them (except for their legs – that’s tooooo fussy for me!), and then glued them over the ones on the print paper.

Because the card base is such a dark chocolatey brown, I’ve lined it with lighter cardstock coordinating with the front of the card.  That got me to thinking about decorating the inside.  Here are a couple of photos showing a peek at the inside, and then the full view.

October is Hope You Can Cling To month at Splitcoaststampers.com, and because I’m hosting one of the HYCCT challenges later during the month, I have advance notice of all the challenges.  I was able to use the 52{C}CT sketch for an upcoming HYCCT challenge.  However – I can’t tell you any more about how this card fits for the HYCCT challenge!  You’ll have to tune in over there periodically and check it out for yourself.

Go see what the rest of the 52{C}CT design team has done with this sketch, and then show us your own take on it!  We’d love to have you link your card at the 52{C}CT site.  The challenge deadline is 1:00 p.m. Eastern time Friday, October 10.  Please join in the fun and creativity!
