Hello!  It’s time for technique challenge week at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown!  Our January hostess, Deborah, has lined up a fun technique to try: inlaid dies.

I decided to use the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge for my layout.  After going through my patterned papers and choosing some scraps that would fit the card and the layout, I decided it looked better if I turned the sketch upside-down. The “Joy” die cut takes the place of the “any shape” element of the sketch.  Positioning the die cut took a little planning to make sure it would be legible.  The only part of die cutting and getting the sentiment fit into place that proved to be difficult was the tiny fill-in for the loop at the end of the “y”.  The card looked rather plain once it was all assembled, so I decided to add a few enamel dots in one corner for a little something extra.
