Well hello there!  It’s time for a new month of challenges at CAS Colours & Sketches!  Jane is our hostess this month and she has some fun challenge ideas in store for us!

Jane admitted that she had Valentine’s Day in mind when she chose the colour scheme for this week’s challenge.  It’s in perfect timing for those of us (like me) who need to mail Valentine cards to our family members who live far away from us.  I decided to focus on the “happy” part of the sentiment “Happy Valentine’s Day”.  I’ve die cut the word “happy” from cardstock in all three challenge colors and layered them, offsetting them slightly for a shadow effect.  (Yes, all three colors are there, even if they are hard to see in the photo.)  I stamped the “Valentine’s Day” part of the sentiment in the darkest challenge color.  The heart was left over from the die cutting I did for a card I made a few weeks ago.  I sponged it with this week’s challenge colors, using the lightest toward the inside of the heart and edging it with the darkest color, but keeping the sponging light enough so the texture of the cardstock still shows.  It’s attached with dimensional adhesive to go along with the dimension achieved by layering the “happy”.  The white cardstock for the card front has a slight linen texture, which shows in person more so than on the photo.  Rounding the bottom corner of the card was the final touch.

Of course, just because we had Valentine’s Day in mind at CC&S, it doesn’t mean that you need to create a Valentine card in order to participate in our challenge!  Let your creativity take you wherever it wants to go.  Just be sure to share your card with us at the challenge site before the linky tool closes at 6:00 p.m. Eastern time Monday, February 13.  We’d love to have you join us!  Thanks for stopping by today.
