Hello! I’m back to crafting again after helping take care of some family matters, and I’m trying to get back in the swing of things with a sketch challenge for CAS Colours & Sketches.
I want to make a few more birthday cards to include in my next shipment to Send a Smile 4 Kids, so that’s how I decided upon the theme for my card. I turned the sketch on its side so that I could use balloons for the round shapes and have strings hanging from them. I die cut the balloons from a leftover piece of a watercolor wash I’d made some time ago. I think the watercolor gives the balloons a more translucent look than if I’d cut them from a piece of solid colored cardstock. The balloons are raised up from the card front with some shims of scrap cardstock. The sentiment is also a die cut, which I’ve shortened a bit – the full die reads “happy birthday to you” but I didn’t have room for all of that. I’ve mounted the card front to a card base in the same color as the sentiment.
Be sure to check out what the rest of the CC&S design team and our September guest designer have made with this sketch! Then create a card of your own and link it to our challenge site by 6:00 p.m. Eastern time Monday, October 2. We’d love to have you join in the fun and creativity!
