Hello there!  It’s time for another challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches and this time we have a very simple sketch for you to try.

After some mental debate over whether to make a birthday card or a holiday card, I finally decided on holiday.  I used one of my newest dies to cut the word “merry” from shiny gold cardstock.  Using the die to help with placement, I stamped “& bright” with gold ink and heat embossed it.  It didn’t turn out quite as shiny as I’d hoped; I think the embossing powder is going old and stale.  Anyway, I knew I wanted to use some festive red and green for the background.  I played around with a couple different ideas before settling on this partial starburst pattern.  I opted not to continue the starburst around the entire card base in order to keep the card more clean and simple in style.  The sentiment panel is attached with dimensional adhesive to give it more actual and visual separation from the card base.

I’m entering my card into two additional challenges:  Less is More, and AAA Cards.

I had a furry “helper” supervise me while I was photographing the card.  LOL

Hello!  It’s an especially exciting time at CAS Colours & Sketches this week!  Our challenge blog is five years old, and we’re celebrating with challenge #250!  To thank our challenge participants for helping us reach this amazing milestone, five lucky players in this week’s challenge will be chosen to win an in-stock clear stamp set of their choice from Uniko!   In addition, five of our design team members are giving away prizes – but you’ll need to leave a comment on their blogs to be eligible to win.   That’s ten prizes in all, in addition to our usual Weekly Winners honorees!  You won’t want to miss out on this event!  All the details are at the challenge site.

Our challenge this week features some bright, cheery colors.  I was in such a party mood that I made two cards!  I used a die to cut stars from cardstock in the three challenge colors plus black.  The die I chose created lots of little parts, which made it easy to make multiple cards using the frames from the black stars and the little pieces to fill in the design.  Some of the pieces were pretty tiny so I opted not to fill those back in.  I think the white left there provides some nice contrast.  The “merry & bright” sentiment for the Christmas card comes from our challenge sponsor, Uniko.

Hello!  It’s sketch week at CAS Colours & Sketches and we have, in my opinion, a really fun one for you with some curvy lines.

My card is a very simple one that stays true to the sketch.  I cut swooshes from green and red cardstock and attached them to a card base of linen textured cardstock.  The linen texture is hard to capture in photographs, but in real life, it’s definitely has a little something extra than plain cardstock.   The sentiment was cut from shiny gold cardstock and glued into place.  Quick and easy!

Greetings!  It’s time for another color challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches.

Considering the colors for this week and the current time of year, it was hard not to think of Christmas foliage.  So I’ve pulled out one of my favorite Christmas tree stamps for the occasion.  I inked it first with the lighter shade of green, then went around the edges of the stamp with the darker ink pad, to give the image a little two-tone effect.  I stamped it on a scrap piece of cardstock and fussy cut it before attaching it to the focal panel.  I added silver brads in two different sizes plus a star to decorate the tree.  I used the darker green ink to add a few festive stars and confetti to the strip of lighter green cardstock that grounds the focal panel.  Even though it might not look quite as clean and simple as some of my other cards, it was pretty easy.
