My friend Taylor is hosting today’s Hope You Can Cling To challenge over at Splitcoaststampers.com, and I was more than happy to help her out when she asked if I would make a sample card for her challenge.  It’s called Two Times the Fun, and the idea is to use two of each item on your card… two different colors, two designer papers, two different ribbons, etc.

After giving this some thought, I decided to create a simple little scene with two colors of designer paper.  I used two different stamps – one for the image, and one for the sentiment.  The sentiment has two words, and the image has two kangaroos.  I snipped the edge of the green paper to make it look more like grass.  I added two pieces of twine, in two different colors, as an embellishment at the top of the card. I think it turned out pretty cute if I say so myself.

I hope you’ll join the Splitcoaststampers community throughout the rest of October as we join together in creating cards for the patients at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas and their families.  You can get all the details about the different challenges and the prizes that will be awarded to challenge participants in November at Splitcoaststampers.com.

Supplies:
Stamps: Critters Down Under (Lawn Fawn)
Cardstock: Daffodil Delight, Basic Black (Stampin’ Up); Larkspur and Ivy from Oh Baby! Boy collection (Basic Gray); Pure Luxury White [for stamping the kangaroos] (Gina K. Designs)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Other: markers (Copic); Lemon and Orange twine (Really Reasonable Ribbon)

Hello! It’s Friday! I am SO definitely looking forward to this weekend! Tonight is our high school’s homecoming, so I’m looking forward to the football game. Our whole family will be out at the stadium tonight supporting the team and the marching band. Then on Saturday, my older son and I will be going to the Virginia Tech football game with some of our band friends! Whether Tech wins or loses, it’s bound to be loads of fun!

Another fun thing about it being Friday is that it’s time for a new Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge! This week our challenge is to use a digital image and a craft item you’ve been hoarding to make a card of appreciation. You don’t have to use a Sweet ‘n Sassy digital image, but we do enjoy seeing our participants use them (and you get the chance for extra perks if you do – see the Digi Challenge site for more details!). Link your card at the Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge site by midnight eastern time Thursday, October 18.

I have to admit I really had to think about what craft item(s) I would relinquish my hold on for this challenge.  I finally decided using some of my Purely Pomegranate supplies would be a sacrifice.  I just LOVE this color and because Stampin’ Up has retired it, once I use all of it up, that’s it.  No more.  Ever.  (Unless I manage to find some at a reasonable price on the secondary market…)  So I’ve used some Purely Pomegranate cardstock and stitched ribbon on today’s card.  I paired it up with chocolate brown, kraft and cream for a warm color scheme.  I also used some of the chocolate satin ribbon that I love. I adhered the largest mat to the card front with dimensional adhesive, which has the unfortunate effect of distorting the appearance of the left side of the card and making the borders look uneven.  Maybe one day I will remember that when I photograph my cards, and angle them differently.

I wanted to combine this challenge with one of the Hope You Can Cling To challenges and decided to go with Giovana’s. I used three different punches for the flowers, and added in the corner punch for good measure.  The flowers were sponged with a little Purely Pomegranate ink. I thought this sentiment was particularly suitable for one of the cancer patients to use to thank a supportive friend.  The layout for this card is this week’s Freshly Made Sketch, flipped horizontally and turned on its side.  I’ve substituted the largest flower for the bow in the sketch.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Be sure to see what the rest of the Design Team has created and give them some comment love.  Links to their blogs are in the left sidebar.  Then join us in our challenge this week!

Supplies for today’s card:
Digital Image: A True Friend (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)
Cardstock: Naturals Ivory, Chocolate Chip, Purely Pomegranate, Kraft, Prints Sampler designer series paper (Stampin’ Up)
Ink: printer ink; Purely Pomegranate (SU)
Other: 5-Petal punch, Spring Blossoms punch, Boho Blossoms punch, ticket corner punch, Chocolate Chip satin ribbon, Purely Pomegranate stitched ribbon (SU); brads (Making Memories); sponge

All during the month of October, Splitcoaststampers is sponsoring Hope You Can Cling To to benefit the MD Anderson Cancer Center. A different challenge is being presented each day of the month. I’m excited to be hosting the challenge for today, October 9!

My challenge is called You Had Me In Stitches.  Sadly, one of the results from surgery to remove cancerous growths can be stitches. But as a popular saying goes, “laughter is the best medicine”, and when one laughs a lot they are said to be “in stitches”.  Also, studies have shown that laughter produces endorphins – brain chemicals that help relieve pain and make one feel better.  So my challenge is to make humorous cards using stitching (hand, machine, or faux) as an embellishment.

This bear image and sentiment always make me giggle.  How many of us have ever put on clothes and wondered how they look on our backsides?  Pretty much all of us, am I right? 🙂  For the stitching, I used one strand of green embroidery floss and one strand of red floss in the needle at the same time.

I hope you’ll join in the Hope You Can Cling To challenges at Splitcoaststampers.com and help bring cheer to the cancer patients at MD Anderson!

Supplies:
Stamps: Beary Christmas (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)
Cardstock: Pure Luxury White (Gina K. Designs); designer paper from Holly Jolly Christmas 6″ x 6″ paper pad (Echo Park)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento); Riding Hood Red (Stampin’ Up)
Other: red and green embroidery floss (DMC); markers (Copic); sponge

We’ve made it through another week, and now it’s Friday again, which means it’s time for another Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge! This week we have a Tic Tac Toe challenge for you.  Use any three challenge ideas in a row from the following tic tac toe board to come up with the elements you need to include in your creation, along with a digital image.

I decided to go straight down the middle of the board for my card.  I chose the digital image of Rhubarb the bear holding a sunflower.  The corners of the image panel were punched to give the concave rounded shape, and then highlighted with teeny brads.  I drew in the grass by hand so Rhubarb wouldn’t look like he was just floating around randomly.  Although I do have the “I {heart} you” sentiment in digital form, I decided to use the clear stamp version of it today because it was easier to get that positioned on the card where I wanted it.

I also tied in one of the Splitcoaststampers.com Hope You Can Cling To challenges with today’s card.  Victoria’s challenge is to use strips behind the focal image.  I used three different colors of ribbon for my strips.  This was the first time I tried putting ribbon through my Xyron machine and using that for my ribbon adhesive.  It worked wonderfully, except that the ends of the ribbons that I peeled off the backing first frayed.  So I put those ends on the right where the focal panel covered that up.

We’ve had some changes in the Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Design Team.  We’re sad to see several people leave, but happy that Cynthia and Tricia have joined us!  Please go check out everyone’s blogs, which are all linked in the left sidebar, and give them some bloggy love.  Then go play tic tac toe and share your creation over at the Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge website!  You have until midnight eastern time Thursday, October 11 to link your work.  We’d love to see what you create!

Supplies for today’s card:
Digital Image: Rhubarb’s Sunflower (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)
Sentiment Stamp: Love From Cocoa (SNSS)
Cardstock: Kraft, Chocolate Chip (Stampin’ Up); Pure Luxury Ivory (Gina K. Designs)
Ink: printer ink; Chocolate Chip (SU)
Other: mini brads (Recollections); Apricot, Taupe and Chocolate grosgrain ribbons, ticket corner punch (SU); markers (Copic)

My husband and I just celebrated a kind of “mini milestone” wedding anniversary.  We’ve been married for 20 years now.  We’ve had some ups and downs over the years but it’s hard for me to imagine riding the roller coaster of life with anyone else.

He isn’t really into mushy cards, but I didn’t want to go humorous for this event.  And there were a few cardmaking challenges I wanted to get in on this week.  So I went sentimental in less obvious ways.  I knew I wanted some red on the card, and since the current Dynamic Duos color challenge is to use Cherry Cobbler and any other color, I decided to use Cherry Cobbler for my red.  I’d remembered seeing lists of “what you’re supposed to give for anniversary gifts” – i.e. first anniversary, paper; 25th anniversary, silver; 50th anniversary, gold; etc., but didn’t recall what the 20th anniversary was.  I did a little researching online and found that for the 20th anniversary, the traditional gift is china and the modern gift is platinum.  So I thought, “platinum = gray” and decided to use Going Gray for the second color of my color combo – which also worked out perfectly for one of the Splitcoaststampers.com Hope You Can Cling To challenges, to create a card that’s mostly gray with a splash of another color. (OK, I understand Dynamic Duos doesn’t like their challenges combined with other color challenges and normally I wouldn’t do that, but IMO since one of the DD colors was “participant’s choice” a little leeway should be allowed.)  I sneaked in some more sentimentality by putting 20 hearts on the tree, one for each year.  Ten are in full strength Cherry Cobbler ink and ten were stamped off once, to represent the two of us being partners in our relationship.  I opted for a very straightforward, simple sentiment.  The embossed panel started out white, but then I swiped my Cherry Cobbler ink cube over it to make the embossing show off and to add some more color to the card.  The layout is one of my all-time favorite Operation Write Home Stars & Stamps sketches, #93.

Then after I had the card all assembled, I was looking at it, and remembered that the color of the dresses our bridesmaids wore was called “ruby” – not quite as dark as Cherry Cobbler, but similar to it.  And my husband and his groomsmen wore charcoal grey.  Yes, really.  Coincidence?  Who knows.

My husband doesn’t often say much about my cardmaking.  But when he pulled this one out of the envelope, the first words out of his mouth were, “Oh, I like the colors!”  Yay.  🙂

Here’s to the next 20 years!

I also made a “twin” of this card for my Hope You Can Cling To stash.

All supplies for this card are from Stampin’ Up unless otherwise noted:
Stamps: Branch Out, Three Little Words, Small Sayings
Cardstock: Going Gray textured, Basic Gray, Whisper White
Ink: Going Gray, Cherry Cobbler, Basic Gray
Other: D’Vine Swirls embossing folder (ProvoCraft); small scallop border die (Papertrey Ink); sponge

I guess I got on a creative roll Sunday and Monday and was so wrapped up in making things that I didn’t take the time to blog them.  Today I’m sharing my two favorites of the four cards I made.

Because of the seasons getting ready to change here in North America, Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps had a Fall Frenzy Virtual Stamp Day with several challenges.  It seems that one of the first things people think of when they think of fall or autumn is the changing leaves.  So I printed off some digital image leaves and watercolored them with reinkers.  Then I fussy cut them and adhered them to my cards.

First off is a card that also incorporates this week’s Splitcoaststampers Clean and Simple challenge.  It’s an inspiration challenge and the photo is of a bunch of leaves with raindrops on them.  For my card, I tried to replicate the long narrow shape of the photo, so I scored lines for the decorated area of my card and scattered my watercolored leaves within that area.  I underlined the sentiment with Dew Drops to mimic the raindrops in the photo.  I took a little bit of creative license and cut the stems of the leaves much shorter than the actual image.

I used a scored border on my second card, too.  This time the border goes around the edges of the card.  The sentiment was created with alphabet stamps.

I think it’s neat to consider that these cards were made with only one and a half sheets of cardstock!  One sheet was used for the two card bases, and the half sheet was used for the leaf images.  I think they’ll be good seasonal cards to include in my early October shipment to Operation Write Home.

Supplies for today’s cards:
Leaves: Autumn Leaves digital stamp set (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)
Sending Love sentiment: Christmas Tags (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)
Falling sentiment: Jessie’s ABCs (Lawn Fawn)
Cardstock: Confetti Cream (SU); Solar White (Neenah) [for the leaves]
Ink: printer ink; Onyx Black (VersaFine)
Other: Wild Wasabi, Marigold Morning, and Riding Hood Red reinkers (Stampin’ Up); Dew Drops (Robin’s Nest)

Hello! It’s been a busy week here, with my kids going back to school and having marching band practices in the afternoons. I’m ready for the weekend and looking forward to the start of the high school marching band and football season! How about you?

Since it’s Friday, that means it’s time for another Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge! This week we have an Inspiration Challenge for you. Create a project using a digital image, using the inspiration photo at the Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge website as a starting point. Share it at the SNSDC website by next Thursday, August 30. Although you’re not required to use one of the fabulous Sweet ‘n Sassy digital images for your project, we especially enjoy seeing what our challenge participants make with them – and you have the chance for extra perks if you do. Details about all that can be found on the SNSDC site.

For my project this week, I used the Fall Arrangement digital image and a sentiment from Autumn Leaves.  The layout is based on this week’s Splitcoaststampers sketch challenge, but I turned this into a flap card rather than a standard A2 card.  The image is colored with Copic markers, and I added a little piercing in the corners.  I attached the focal panel with dimensional adhesive so the piercing wouldn’t smash flat, which unfortunately gives the illusion in the picture that it wasn’t cut straight and was attached a bit wonky.  This card will be going in a shipment to Operation Write Home early next week.  I like making flap cards for OWH because I feel like they give more writing space for our heroes to use.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the Design Team has created! Links to their blogs are in the left sidebar. Thanks for stopping by today.

I recently discovered a new challenge blog, Stamping With The Oldies.  I love their tag line:  “Inspiring Stampers to Dig in their Stash and Stamp with their Oldies but Still Goodies!”  Goodness knows that after ten years of stamping, I have plenty of “oldies but still goodies”!

For their first challenge, they asked viewers to create something with their oldest stamp set.  I still have the first stamp set I bought – Stampin’ Up’s” Just A Note Mini”.  However, the images in the set just weren’t speaking to me this week.  So for my challenge card, I used one of the sentiments from my first set.  The note image is from another one of my first sets.  I used a ruler to help me draw the lines straight.  The notes aren’t completely random – if you’ll forgive my lack of drawing in the treble clef, key signature, and time signature, and that the note image is eighth notes rather than quarter notes, it’s actually the first few notes of Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy”.  I used this week’s Splitcoaststampers Clean and Simple challenge colors for my color scheme.  I meant to use my corner rounder punch but grabbed the wrong punch by mistake.  Ooops.  Oh well. It’s still a decent card for Operation Write Home.

I hope you’ll take the time to check out Stamping With the Oldies!

All supplies for this card are from Stampin’ Up:
Stamps: Just a Note Mini, Mini Medleys
Cardstock: Whisper White, Night of Navy, Whisper White textured

Hello!  It’s been a busy week here and I’m ready for the weekend.  How about you?

Since it’s Friday, that means it’s time for another Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge! This week’s theme is Beary Special, and the design team is featuring the adorable Rhubarb the Teddy Bear on our sample cards. If you’d like to join the fun, simply create a card, using a digital image of a bear for the focal point. You don’t have to use Rhubarb or one of the other cute Sweet ‘n Sassy digital images, but we do love when you use those (and you get the chance for perks if you do – see the Digi Challenge site for more details!). Link your card at the Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge site by midnight eastern time Thursday, August 9.

Here’s the card I created using Rhubarb Honey Bee.  I printed him fairly large and used Microsoft Word to add a sentiment for a cute “HallNOween” card.  I used Stickles to give Rhubarb’s wings some glittery shimmer.  Because Stickles is essentially a glitter glue, it doesn’t rub off, making it OK to use in small amounts on cards for Operation Write Home.   The layout is this week’s Splitcoaststampers.com sketch challenge.  The orange panel is designer paper with a subtle print.  I wanted to add something to the yellow strip to keep it from being plain, but I didn’t want to emboss it and add any more bulk to the card.  So I took my Stampin’ Spot ink cube in the same color and “stamped” it randomly on the cardstock.  The cube was kind of dry, so it didn’t add too much ink, just enough to give a bit of a tone-on-tone design.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the Design Team has created!  Links to their blogs are in the left sidebar.  And if you haven’t “liked” the Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge Facebook page yet, go do that!  It’s so close to getting 100 likes – and when it does, three people will be chosen to each receive one digital image of their choice from the Sweet ‘n Sassy store!  Thanks for stopping by today.

Supplies for today’s card:
Digital Image: Rhubarb Honey Bee (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)
Cardstock: Pure Luxury White (Gina K. Designs); Basic Black, Daffodil Delight, Razzleberry Lemonade designer paper (Stampin’ Up)
Ink: printer ink; Daffodil Delight (SU)
Other: Black Licorice twine (Really Reasonable Ribbon); markers (Copic); Star Dust Stickles (Ranger)

Happy Friday to you! It’s time for another Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge!

This week’s theme is Flag, You’re It!.  I’ve made a fall-themed card featuring the adorable Cocoa Mouse.   I printed out the image three times.  I added a couple rows of hand stitching to the one I planned to use as my focal panel.  I used my favorite watercoloring technique to color the leaf on one of the other two images, and Copics to color Cocoa’s head and paw on the other, and then fussy cut those parts.  (I did color and attempt to cut out Cocoa’s tail, but that proved to be TOO fussy.) Cocoa’s tail and the stem of the leaf were colored on the focal panel.  When I printed the images, I also printed the sentiment, which I created myself in Microsoft Word.  Sweet ‘n Sassy’s banner die was used to cut it to the banner shape, and I attached it to a narrow strip of cardstock to create a flag.  I’m imagining that Cocoa’s other paw is holding it, but you can’t see that because it’s hidden behind the leaf.  🙂  Finally I attached the leaf to the panel, and then used dimensional adhesive to put Cocoa’s head in place.  Then I assembled the card following this week’s Splitcoaststampers.com sketch challenge for the layout.

The rest of the design team and I hope you’ll join us this week! Simply create a card, using a digital image for the focal point, and add in a flag or a banner of some sort. Link your card at the Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge site. Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps digital images aren’t required, but we do love when you use those (and you get the chance for perks if you do – see the Digi Challenge site for more details!). Be sure to “like” the Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge Facebook page, too!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Hello, and happy Friday to you!  Are you ready for another Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge?

This week’s challenge is right up my alley – use a digital image and create a Clean and Simple styled card, with no more than two layers (the card base doesn’t count as a layer).  Since so many of my cards tend to be CAS anyway, the big problem for me was deciding on an image.  I finally decided to use this week’s Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge sketch and make a Father’s Day card for my husband.  The background is a watercolor wash created with several colors of reinkers.  I added a bit of sponging to the die cut clouds to give them a bit of dimension.  I have to admit that fussy cutting the eagle was more of a pain than I thought it would be, but I think it was worth the effort.  When I was assembling the card none of the cardstock colors I was trying for the card base seemed to go right with the watercolored background.  So I made the last-minute decision to add the black mat to give some visual separation and definition between the background and the base.

To play along, link your card at the Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge site. Even though you can use a digi image from any company, we especially enjoy seeing what our challenge participants create using Sweet ‘n Sassy digital images!

Have you checked out the new Sweet ‘N Sassy Stamps Digi Challenge Facebook page? We will give away three digital stamps (3 winners, each gets 1 free digi of their choice) when we get to 100 LIKES! Go see what it’s all about! 🙂

Supplies for today’s card:
Digital Images: Soaring Eagle, Sentiments for Him (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)
Cardstock: Naturals Ivory, Basic Black (Stampin’ Up); Solar White (Neenah)
Ink: printer ink; Soft Sky (SU)
Other: Soft Sky, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, and Riding Hood Red ink refills (SU); Clouds & Raindrops die set (SNSS); markers (Copic); sponge

This week’s CAS challenge at Splitcoaststampers is to create a card with a love theme.  Since “love you” type cards are always needed for Operation Write Home, that wasn’t a problem at all.  But since it’s nearly June, I didn’t want to make something pink or red or looking anything like a Valentine.  So I decided to use the current Dynamic Duos color challenge for my color scheme and punch some flowers, and ended up with today’s card – which, except for the colors, is actually quite similar to the Christmas cards my family sent out last year, LOL.

Thanks for stopping by today!  🙂

All supplies from this card are from Stampin’ Up.
Stamps: Short & Sweet, Season of Joy
Cardstock: Marina Mist, Bashful Blue, Naturals White
Ink: Marina Mist
Other: 5-Petal Flower punch, Spring Bouquet Flower punch, brad, sponge

Hi!  It’s time for this week’s Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge!  We have an easy challenge theme this week – make a thank you card using a digital image.  To play along, link your card at the Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge site.  Even though you can use a digi image from any company, we especially enjoy seeing what our challenge participants create using Sweet ‘n Sassy digital images!  Remember that joining in the challenge gives you an entry into a prize drawing that will be held at the end of May; you can find details about that on the SNSS Digi Challenge site.

Here’s what I made for this week’s challenge.  When I first learned the challenge details, I knew I wanted to use this image and sentiment and keep the card clean and simple.  Then when I saw the sketch for this week’s Clean and Simple Challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com, I decided I’d use that for my card.  The Splitcoaststampers Wednesday tutorial inspired me to try a shaped card.  And it all came together like this:

The sentiment is completely computer generated using the Maiandra font.  The card is very close to standard A2 card size; it’s just a tiny bit shy of 5.5″ tall but only about 4″ wide (rather than the usual 4.25″).  I think it will be a welcome addition to the cards I’m making for Operation Write Home.

Thanks for stopping by today!  I’ll be looking on the SNSS Digi Challenge site for your own thank you card using a digital image!  🙂

Supplies used:
Digital Image: Cocoa’s Heart (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)
Cardstock: Solar White (Neenah)
Ink: printer ink
Other: markers (Copic); Labels Eight Nestabilities die (Spellbinders)

Hooray!  It’s Friday!  That means that the weekend is almost here, AND it’s time for another Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge!  Today is a little different because the Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge ladies are also bringing you a blog hop for our new May release – and we are all excited about that!  🙂

While you’re hopping, be sure to leave a comment on each Design Team member’s blog post.  One DT member is a mystery blogger, and she will be picking a random winner from the comments on her blog post!  The winning prize is the entire May digital release!  How awesome is that!?!  The winner will be announced on the Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge blog next Friday, May 25.

Today we have a recipe challenge for you:  Use one ribbon, two gems, and three different colors (not counting neutrals).  Sounds like a fun one, doesn’t it?  We do have a few things that we ask you to keep in mind:

  • Please use digital images ONLY for the focal point of your creation(s) for this challenge.
  • Sweet ‘n Sassy digital images are not required, but we really love it when our challenge participants use them!
  • Be sure to link your creation(s) to the Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge blog.  Every card you enter in our challenges throughout the month of May gives you one chance to win 3 digital stamps of your choice from the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps store!  You receive two chances if your card uses a Sweet ‘n Sassy digital image.  So the more you play, and the more you use SNSS digital images, the more chances you have to win!
  • When uploading to online galleries, please use keyword SNSDC54.

Here’s what I created for the recipe challenge.  I’ve used the newest Rhubarb the bear image, Baseball Rhubarb.  I love that his uniform can be colored any way you please in order to personalize your card or layout for your favorite baseball, softball, or t-ball player.  I chose to go kind of gender neutral since I’ll be sending this card to Operation Write Home.  I used the current Splitcoaststampers.com sketch for my layout. One ribbon = the chocolate grosgrain near the top of the card; two gems = the two pearls on the ribbon; and three colors = blue, yellow and brown.

I’m also including this in the OWH Stars and Stamps Five Elements challenge.  My five elements are the digital image, ribbon, pearls, rounded corners, and designer papers.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Now, here’s the blog hop lineup.  Be sure to give everyone some love – YOU just might be the winner of the entire May release!

Supplies for today’s card:
Digital Image: Baseball Rhubarb (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)
Sentiment Stamp: Thoughtful Rhubarb (SNSS)
Cardstock: Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Chocolate Chip, Spring Showers designer papers (Stampin’ Up); Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: printer ink; Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Other: Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon, corner rounder punch (SU); half pearls (KaiserCraft); standard circle Nestabilities dies (Spellbinders); markers (Copic)

Truth is, coming up with post titles that sound interesting but not overly corny and that describe the creative work is a challenge!  :p

I combined two current challenges for this card.  The color scheme is from Dynamic Duos Challenge #2, to use colors close to Stampin’ Up’s So Saffron and Pool Party.  I have Pool Party cardstock but not ink, so I had to really think about how I was going to pull this challenge off.  I didn’t have a marker that was an exact match to Pool Party either, but I used two that both seemed like a close match to embellish the “U”.  The tall rectangular piece shows off the current Splitcoaststampers Technique Lovers’ Challenge, Dry Debossing.  I used an embossing folder in my Big Kick to emboss the strip of white cardstock, turned it so the indentations were face up, and then swiped the cardstock with my So Saffron ink spot pad to add color.  I love how it came out streaky – I think it gives the panel a kind of vintage shabby chic feel.  The layout is a really old Stars & Stamps blog sketch, #12.  I’ve used this sketch before and I like it a lot because it’s great for quick CAS cards.  On second thought, I’m wondering if I should have used a Pool Party mat on the sentiment square instead of So Saffron – but I don’t think this looks bad enough that I need to change it, so I’ll leave it.

And that’s one more love-themed card for the box I’m putting together for Operation Write Home!

Supplies:
Stamps: You (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)
Cardstock: Pool Party, Whisper White, So Saffron (SU)
Ink: So Saffron (SU)
Other: Victoria embossing folder (ProvoCraft); markers (Copic)
