Hello!  It’s the first Saturday of the month, so that means it’s time for another sketch challenge at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown!

I put a little spin on the sketch by rotating it 90° counterclockwise.  Instead of the scalloped border shown in the sketch, I used a ruffled ribbon (it was already ruffled when I bought it).  I picked out several coordinating designer papers and let them do much of the work for me.  I couldn’t decide on an image to use for the focal panel, so I chose a wordy sentiment to fill the space.

And there’s another Christmas card to add to the ones I’m setting aside to send to Operation Write Home in the late summer or early fall.

I hope you’ll check out the challenge details at the 52{C}CT site and play along with us this week!  Be sure to visit the rest of the design team members’ blogs for some more inspiration.  Thanks for stopping by today!

Supplies:
Stamps: More Merry Messages (Stampin’ Up)
Cardstock: Riding Hood Red (SU); designer papers from Nordic Holiday 6″ x 6″ paper pad (Basic Grey)
Ink: Riding Hood Red (SU)
Other: Riding Hood Red ruffled ribbon (SU); red half pearls (KaiserCraft)

  1. Love the way you’ve used the sentiment as the focal point – it really allows the lovely papers to shine! The ruffle ribbon is gorgeous!

  2. Great rich colours Patricia! I love the sentiment being the main focus and that you rotated the layout! Ruth x

  3. Hi Patricia, love those papers and I think that the sentiment is a perfect focal point. That ribbon is gorgeous. Love that you turned the sketch 90 degrees, it makes it different to the other DT cards and suits your design perfectly

  5. Thank you for rotating the sketch! I was hoping someone would to show it’s versatility. I love your papers, your ribbon, and your sentiment. They all coordinate very nicely!

  6. Love how you flipped the sketch Patricia. I thought about it, but the ideas just didn’t flow for me. Now that I’ve seen your fabulous card I think “Of course – how wonderful”! I love that ribbon in place of the scalloped border. An all around great card. Hugs D
