Hello!  July has given us a fifth Thursday, which means it’s Double Challenge time at CAS – Colours and Sketches!  This week we have a sketch and a color combination for you to use together in creating a clean and simple styled card.

I decided to pull out some retired Stampin’ Up stamps for my sample card for this challenge.  Two of the challenge colors combined easily for a floral theme.  To get the lighter tint of the yellow and green, I stamped off the images once on scrap paper.  I stamped the flower on a smaller piece of cardstock and cut it out, to give it a little bit of dimension over the leaves.  The focal panel of the card is also raised up thanks to some shims of scrap cardstock.   I rotated the sketch counterclockwise to better accommodate the flower and leaves, and I stretched it out to a rectangle.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Be sure to see what the other CAS – Colours and Sketches design team members have made.  Then show us what you can create with the colors and the sketch! You have until 1:00 p.m. eastern time Wednesday, August 6 to link your work to the challenge post.

All supplies are from Stampin’ Up unless otherwise noted.
Stamps: Wild Rose, Three Little Words
Cardstock: Pure Luxury White (Gina K. Designs)
Ink: Lost Lagoon, Crushed Curry, Smoky Slate
Other: Bitty Banners Framelits die, sponge

Hello!  It’s time for another sketch challenge at CAS – Colours and Sketches!   As always, the sketch can be rotated or flipped or stretched – so long as we can see the basic elements of the original sketch, it’s all good!

I’ve stretched the sketch out into a rectangle and, well, you’ll see soon enough the other modifications I made to it while still keeping my card clean and simple in design.  I decided to give the current Lawnscaping challenge of watercoloring a try, too.  The quote bubble panel features a watercolor wash, and I colored the cow with watercolor pencils softened with a blender pen.  I chose the cow simply because of all my animal images, it seemed to fit best with the sketch.

Our curious kitten wanted in on the photo taking action, too:

Hello again!  It’s time for another challenge at Cards in Envy.  For the next two weeks, we have a super easy theme for you to follow:  Happy Birthday to You.  That’s right – all you need to do for this challenge is to make an A2 sized birthday card (4.25″ x 5.5″) with no lumpy, bumpy embellishments so that it could be mailed at the standard postage rate.

I’ve gone with a fairly simply design that could be used for pretty much anyone of any age, although the color scheme does lean a bit toward the masculine side.  This platypus image always makes me smile.  The birthday hat was stamped on a scrap piece of cardstock.  I colored in the polka dots, cut out the hat and glued it into place, and drew in the frills on top.

If you need additional inspiration, please go check out the Cards in Envy site and see what the rest of the design team has made.  Then create a birthday card following our challenge guidelines and share it with us on the Cards in Envy site.  We’d love to have you play along with us!  Thanks for stopping by today.

Supplies:
Stamps: Critters Down Under, Hats Off to You (Lawn Fawn)
Cardstock: Garden Green, Elegant Eggplant, Very Vanilla (Stampin’ Up); designer papers from Fusion collection (Basic Grey)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Other: markers (Copic); Labels Five Nestabilities die (Spellbinders)

Hello!  It’s been a pretty quiet week around here, but today it’s time for a new challenge at CAS – Colours and Sketches.  This week Jacqueline, our challenge hostess, has come up with a color scheme using some deep, rich colors.

I decided to go floral with the colors, using the two shades of purple for flowers and the green for leaves.  Yes, that very dark color is actually purple, although it tends to show up a lot like black.  It’s really hard to tell in the photograph, but the background is textured cardstock.  I stamped the flowers and leaves on smooth cardstock, fussy cut them, and then adhered them to the background.  The sentiment panel is also smooth cardstock, and it’s attached with dimensional adhesive so it sort of “floats” over the flowers.  Opposing rounded corners add a little extra interest to the card.  The layout is from the CAS(E) this Sketch! challenge that ends today, and the inspiration for the sentiment comes from the current AEIHeartU challenge.

Hello!  It’s time for another sketch challenge at CAS – Colours and Sketches.  This one has some interesting small shapes that can be interpreted in a variety of ways.

I just received my first Mama Elephant stamps and wanted to put them to use right away.  Some of the images were sized perfectly for the sketch elements!  I’ve decided to keep pretty true to the sketch, other than stretching it out to a rectangle and using the mirror reverse of it.  The way the little girls were situated, I felt they looked better placed on the right side of the card than on the left.  And I ended up with another card for Operation Write Home.

Our family recently took in a kitten.  He’s about 12 weeks old now and very curious, as you might imagine.  Lyric was quite interested in the process of photographing this card:

Silly kitty.  🙂

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you’ll join us over at CAS – Colours and Sketches with your own take on this sketch!  You have until 1:00 p.m. eastern time Wednesday, July 16 to link your card at the challenge website.

Supplies:
Stamps: In My Heart (Mama Elephant)
Cardstock: Blushing Bride (Stampin’ Up); Pure Luxury White (Gina K. Designs)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Other: markers (Copic); Soft Sky ribbon, dimensionals (SU)

Hello, and welcome!  Today marks the beginning of a new challenge at Cards in Envy.  For the next two weeks, we’re going to be seeing stars and stripes.  Cards for this challenge should be A2 sized (4.25″ x 5.5″) and be thin enough to be mailed at the standard postage rate – and have both stars and stripes on them.

I decided to combine my stripes with my stars by die-cutting stars from striped designer paper.  I wanted to add another birthday card with a masculine feel to the box I’m filling for Operation Write Home, so that determined my color scheme and the sentiment I chose.  I used the sketch from the current CAS(E) This Sketch! challenge for the design of the card.

So now it’s your turn! Check out the Cards in Envy site for all the challenge details and to see what the rest of the design team has made. Then share your starry, stripey creation(s) with us by 7:00 p.m. Eastern time Sunday, July 20. We’d love to have you play along with us!

Hello!  For the month of July, we’re doing something a little different at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown!  Welcome to the 52 {Christmas} Card Christmas in July Blog Hop!  If you’ve arrived here from Louise’s blog, you are on the right track!  If you haven’t and want to participate for a chance to win honors and/or prizes, please go back to the original hop post, follow along with us, and be sure to leave a comment on each blog in the hop!  Our four challenge prompts are shown on the original hop post, and you can choose any of them (or combine them!) for your own creation.  Be sure to link your work at the blog hop post by noon GMT/7:00 a.m. Eastern time July 31, 2014.  Several of the design team members will be giving away blog candy to our July challenge participants who have left comments!  🙂

Here’s what I made using our prompts for the month.  I’ve combined the sketch challenge with the stash challenge.  I just happened to have tree and snowflake stickers that fit perfectly into the sketch layout!  Serendipity, I suppose.  I added a hand-stitched border around the edges of the focal panel.  Like nearly all of my 52{C}CT cards, this one is going to be donated to Operation Write Home, for one of our military men or women stationed overseas to use to write home to their loved ones.

Thank you for coming by and leaving a comment!  (Those of you outside of the United States – I apologize for my blog’s tendency to flag “foreign” comments as spam.  Please rest assured that your comment will be held in my spam folder until I approve it manually!)  Remember to hop along with us starting at the original 52CCT post for multiple chances to win honors and prizes!  Your next stop will be the fabulous Ruth – she always has some awesome stuff you won’t want to miss!  Merry hopping!

Hello!  We’re starting off a new month of challenges at CAS – Colours and Sketches, and this week we have a color challenge of two neutrals and a pretty pink for you to try.

I puzzled about how I was going to use the gray and tan colors together and finally decided I could make it work if I kept them minimal.  LOL  This week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge provided the layout for my card.  I wanted to add another thank you card to my stash for Operation Write Home, so that was the inspiration behind this sentiment, which is stamped on a scrap of vellum that I’ve had for years.  Hopefully the little star brads will be enough for this card to qualify for the current AEIHeartU challenge to use gold.
