Hello there!  It’s sketch week at CAS Colours & Sketches and Jeanne, our July hostess, has come up with an interesting one for us this week.

I guess I still had winter lingering on my mind after making a Christmas card for last week’s CC&S challenge, because I decided to make a wintry any occasion card that I can donate to Send a Smile 4 Kids.  I turned the sketch 90 degrees and made a portrait-oriented card.  On my desk I found a scrap of white cardstock onto which I’d painted shimmery white paint some time ago.  It was the perfect width to fit the angled panel of the sketch to use as snowy ground, but I trimmed the top so the snow line wouldn’t be straight and boring.  I stamped the penguin on white cardstock, colored his scarf, beak, and feet and added a little shadowing to his stomach, and then fussy cut him.  I assembled all the pieces of the card together and stamped the sentiment.  Ta-da!  Very CAS.

Be sure to check out the terrific cards the rest of the CC&S Design Team have made.  Then make your own card following the sketch and share it with us at the CC&S site.  You have until 6:00 p.m. Monday, July 30 to link your card.  We’d love to have you join in the fun and creativity!  Thanks for stopping by today.

  1. This is so genius! The shimmer made me think frozen pond when I saw it (perfect for the penguin). Love the sketch rotated and how you lined up the shimmer darker blue strip.

  2. Patricia this is an adorable CAS card. You really did an outstanding job with the sketch. I love how the snow meets the corner of the angle – well done!

  3. Great card, Patricia! I have sent you two emails, please let me know if you haven’t received them. I’m slightly concerned that you may not have received them, especially given your deadline of this evening!! Thanks!

  4. I loved that you flipped the sketch and that penguin is so cute.

  5. Simply adorable! Love how you rotated the sketch and the added sliver panel underneath the penguin is FAB. You are inspiring me with your festive makes and start on the holiday season 🙂 Hugs Bev x
