Hello!  It’s getting to be valentine season over at Operation Write Home, so be prepared to see a lot of love-themed cards showing up here over the next few months!

Today’s card is the first specific valentine I’ve made this season.  I’ve used this week’s layout from Freshly Made Sketches and some spring-like pastels to create something a little different than most valentines.  I substituted flowers for the squares in the sketch, and used a heart instead of the star.  I think the little bee is just too stinkin’ cute.  I stamped it on yellow cardstock, colored in the black stripes, added a bit of shimmery paint to the wings, fussy cut it out, and then glued it to the end of the darling little heart-shaped beeline trail.  (Unfortunately, the sentiment hides the bottom of the heart on the beeline.)  The brads match the colors of the flowers better in real life than in the photo.  I don’t often add non-layer stuff to a card front like I did here, but since I have plenty of this blue cardstock I wanted to use it for the card base as well as for the background behind the flowers.

Thanks for stopping by today!  🙂
