Hello there!  It’s hard to believe October is halfway over!  It’s Thursday again, which means that it’s time for a new challenge at CAS – Colours and Sketches.  This week we have a color challenge for you – two shades of a peachy color, plus a dark green.

I decided to go floral with the colors.  I stamped the blossom onto a scrap of cardstock first.  To color it, I pressed my ink pads onto a piece of acetate, and then picked up the color with a damp paintbrush and painted it onto the flower.  When it was dry, I fussy cut it.  The petals curved upward naturally, which gives some nice dimension to the card.  The leaves were stamped directly onto the focal panel.  To get the color variance in them, I stamped off the image onto a scrap piece of copy paper and then used the rock-n-roll technique to add a bit more ink to the edges of the leaves.  I also reapplied the ink to the stems.  I’ve been wanting to try the bokeh technique for a while and figured this was a good time for it.  The green dots were made with the eraser from a mechanical pencil, and their irregular shape is because the eraser has been used.  The peach dots were made with a brand-new eraser on a standard #2 pencil.  This card isn’t quite as clean and simple as some of my other work, but I think it can still be considered CAS.
