Hello!  It’s Cards in Envy challenge introduction day, and we have a fun one this time!  We’re calling it “Say What?”, but all that means is that you choose a sentiment, quote or even a short poem to be the main focal image of your card.

I’ve decided to go with some fun spring-like papers and a birthday sentiment.  The edges of the panels have been sponged with cocoa brown ink.  The layout is OWH Stars & Stamps sketch #123.

What kind of sentiment will you choose?  Share your work with us at the Cards in Envy site by 7:00 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday, November 17.  Be sure to check out what the rest of the design team has made and give them some blog love, too!  Thanks for stopping by today!

Hello!  It’s getting to be valentine season over at Operation Write Home, so be prepared to see a lot of love-themed cards showing up here over the next few months!

Today’s card is the first specific valentine I’ve made this season.  I’ve used this week’s layout from Freshly Made Sketches and some spring-like pastels to create something a little different than most valentines.  I substituted flowers for the squares in the sketch, and used a heart instead of the star.  I think the little bee is just too stinkin’ cute.  I stamped it on yellow cardstock, colored in the black stripes, added a bit of shimmery paint to the wings, fussy cut it out, and then glued it to the end of the darling little heart-shaped beeline trail.  (Unfortunately, the sentiment hides the bottom of the heart on the beeline.)  The brads match the colors of the flowers better in real life than in the photo.  I don’t often add non-layer stuff to a card front like I did here, but since I have plenty of this blue cardstock I wanted to use it for the card base as well as for the background behind the flowers.

Thanks for stopping by today!  🙂

Hello everyone!  Can you believe it’s November already?  The change of month means it’s time for a different design team member to take on hosting duties at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown.  It’s Louise‘s turn this time, and she’s created a really neat sketch to get us started.

I’ve stretched the sketch from a square to a rectangle and made it a panel attached to a card base.  Even though I had the layout predetermined for me, it took me a while to figure out what images and colors to use with it.  I finally settled on this bear in a circle image because it lent itself easily to the sketch.  I decided to check out this week’s Color Challenge at Splitcoastampers.com and felt those colors would work with the image.  Although I usually leave the bear white and add just a bit of grey shading to make him a polar bear, this time I decided to challenge myself a bit and color him brown to fit in with the color challenge.  The bear also ties into Stacey’s “Warm & Furry Fuzzies” Hope You Can Cling To challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today!  Be sure to see what the rest of the design team has created.  Then show us what you can do with this sketch.  Link your card to the 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown site by 1:00 pm Eastern time Friday, November 8.  We’d love to see what you make!
