It’s the third Saturday of the month, and this week at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown we have a theme challenge – Christmas landscapes.  Here in my part of Virginia we received about 15 inches of snow Thursday, so creating a snowy scene for my card seemed like the natural thing to do.

I stamped the trees and the bird first.  Then I created a mask for the ground line so that when I colored the sky, the snow would stay white.  I used a color duster brush with three shades of blue ink to create the blue sky.  I made sure the ink was all dry before adding shimmer paint to the snow lines and the trees to mimic sunlight shining on the snow.  I toyed with the idea of adding a sentiment toward the bottom right corner, but in the end I decided not to use one.  That way, when I send the card to Operation Write Home later this year, the eventual sender of the card can use it for any winter occasion or even just as a “thinking of you” card.

Be sure to check out all the gorgeous cards the rest of the design team has made!  Then share your own Christmas/winter landscape card with us at the 52{C}CT site.  You have until 1:00 p.m. Eastern time Friday, February 21 to link your card.  Thanks for stopping by today!
