Happy Friday to you! It’s time for another Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge!

This week’s theme is Stars and Stripes.  I’ve chosen this cute Cocoa Mouse image to create an AnyHero card for Operation Write Home.  I added a couple of strips of red and blue scrap cardstock and wove them together in the top corner for a few extra stripes on the card.  I considered punching some stars and attaching them over the strips but thought that might be a bit overkill.  So I kept it pretty clean and simple instead.

The rest of the design team and I hope you’ll join us this week! Simply create a card, using a digital image for the focal point, and add in some stars and stripes. Use your imagination – you can use designer paper, or an image with stars and/or stripes, or you could even draw some! Link your card at the Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge site. Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps digital images aren’t required, but we do love when you use those (and you get the chance for perks if you do – see the Digi Challenge site for more details!). Thanks for stopping by today!

Supplies:
Digital Images: Patriotic Cocoa, Many Thanks (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)
Cardstock: Brilliant Blue, Real Red (Stampin’ Up); Solar White (Neenah)
Ink: printer ink
Other: markers (Copic)

I’ve been working on some quick and easy cards to fill up the box I want to send Operation Write Home for their Duty. Honor. Cards. card drive.  Here’s one I made today.  I can’t help but smile when I see this cute little drum.  I hope the card brings a smile to both the military member who sends it to a loved one, and to the recipient!

I had the Lawnscaping Color Splash challenge in the back of my mind when I was working on this card.  When I went to the Lawnscaping blog to link the challenge to this post, I noticed that they are hosting a Heroes Card Drive, too, to benefit the men and women deployed with Lawnscaping founder Laurel Beard’s husband.  So after I send my current stash of cards to OWH at the end of this week, I’ll start on cards for the Lawnscaping drive.

Enough chatter… here’s the card. The layout was a Splitcoaststampers sketch challenge a long time ago.

And here is the list of supplies used to make it:
Stamps: Pa-Rum-Pa-Pum-Pum (Lawn Fawn)
Cardstock: Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie, Razzleberry Lemonade designer paper (Stampin’ Up); Pure Luxury Ivory (Gina K. Designs)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Other: markers (Copic)

After a fun weekend spent with my extended family, I finally got back into the creative swing of things and made a card for the current Dynamic Duos challenge.  This week they have a monochromatic color scheme.  I chose the Stars & Stamps Blog sketch #127 for my layout, but enlarged the focal panel a bit so I could fit the topiary image on it three times.  And now I have another any occasion card to add to the box of cards I’m sending to Operation Write Home at the end of the week for the Duty. Honor. Cards. drive!

All supplies used for this card are from Stampin’ Up except the stamps:
Stamps: High Hellos (Lizzie Anne Designs)
Cardstock: River Rock, Naturals Ivory, Always Artichoke, Tea & Crumpets designer series paper
Ink: Always Artichoke
Other: River Rock ribbon

June New Release Blog Hop post

Today I’m sharing another card that I made for this week’s Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge to Bling It On!  This time I’ve used the newly released Dahlia digital image from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps.  I printed it five times so I could cut out each layer and stack them to give my flower some dimension.  I added a scrap piece of cardstock as a shim underneath each of the top four layers to give some extra definition to each layer without adding a lot of bulk to the card.  (Because I’ll be including this card in my shipment for Operation Write Home’s Duty. Honor. Cards. card drive, I wanted to keep the card as easily mailable as possible.)  The sentiment is another SNSS digital image; even though it’s from a set called “Masculine Birthday Greetings” I think this font can work equally well on a feminine card.  I’ve used Freshly Made Sketch #40 for the layout of this card, and this time I chose to use pearls for my bling.

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you’ll join in this week’s Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge to Bling It On!  All the challenge details can be found on the Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge site.

Supplies:
Digital Images: Dahlia, Masculine Birthday Greetings (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)
Cardstock: Pure Luxury White (Gina K. Designs); designer papers from LilyKate 6″ x 6″ paper pad (Basic Grey)
Ink: printer ink
Other: half pearls (KaiserCraft); markers (Copic)

Hooray! It’s Friday! That means that the weekend is almost here, AND it’s time for another Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge! Today is a little different because the Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge ladies are also bringing you a blog hop for our new June release – and we are all excited about that! 🙂

This week’s challenge is to Bling It On! Use rhinestones, pearls, glitter, or any other sparkly stuff to add shine and glitz to your card. (Note – if you’re making a card to send to Operation Write Home, please do not use glitter because it can flake off onto our military men and women, making them detectable by the enemies’ night vision goggles.) Just keep in mind the guidelines for Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenges:

  • Please use digital images ONLY for the focal point of your creation(s) for this challenge.
  • Sweet ‘n Sassy digital images are not required, but we really love it when our challenge participants use them!
  • Be sure to link your creation(s) to the Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge blog.  Every card you enter in our challenges throughout the month of June gives you one chance to win 3 digital stamps of your choice from the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps store!  You receive two chances if your card uses a Sweet ‘n Sassy digital image.  So the more you play, and the more you use SNSS digital images, the more chances you have to win!
  • Every week, one participant who uses a Sweet ‘n Sassy digital image is spotlighted.  One of our featured participants in June will have the opportunity to be a Guest Designer for our challenges in August!
  • When uploading to online galleries, please use keyword SNSDC59.

Here’s what I created with the lovely Blue Morpho Butterfly digital image.  I kept my card pretty clean and simple, except for the rhinestones on the butterflies’ bodies and in the corners of the black mat. I printed the butterflies onto shimmery cardstock, so they do have a little extra sparkle to them when the light hits them just right.  One fun thing about digi images is that you can resize them to whatever size you want.  I’ve put a slightly smaller butterfly on the inside of my card.  (I do have to confess that I wasn’t in a mood to fuss with cutting around the butterflies’ antennae – so I kind of gave them a teeny amputation.  Rest assured that the actual digital image does have antennae!)  The sentiment is from the digital set A True Friend.

Here’s the list of all the blog hop participants.  Be sure to leave a comment on each Design Team member’s blog post.  One DT member is a mystery blogger, and she will be picking a random winner from the comments on her blog post!  The winning prize is the entire June digital release!  How awesome is that!?!  The winner will be announced on the Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge blog next Friday, June 29.

One last thing. Have you checked out the new Sweet ‘N Sassy Stamps Digi Challenge Facebook page? We will give away three digital stamps (3 winners, each gets 1 free digi of their choice) when we get to 100 LIKES! Go see what it’s all about! 🙂

Supplies for today’s card:
Digital Images: Blue Morpho Butterfly, A True Friend (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)
Cardstock: Pacific Point, Basic Black, Shimmery White (Stampin’ Up); Solar White (Neenah)
Ink: printer ink
Other: rhinestones, ticket corner punch, dimensionals (SU); petite oval and petite scalloped oval Nestabilities dies (Spellbinders); Victoria embossing folder (ProvoCraft); markers (Copic)

Over the past several years of cardmaking, I’ve learned that when there are more interesting challenges than there is time to make cards for each one, that combining can be a good thing.  That’s what I’ve done with today’s card.  The color combo is Dynamic Duos #7, and I’ve included their “dessert option” of adding ribbon to the card.  The layout is the June Sketch for You To Try.  The splashes of bright color against the neutral background fit the current Lawnscaping Challenge.

I used the same watercoloring with reinkers technique I used on last week’s Father’s Day cards to color the flowers.  Otherwise, the card pretty much speaks for itself… so here it is:

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you’ll come back again soon.

Supplies:
Stamps: Flutter By (Lawn Fawn)
Cardstock: Melon Mambo, Basic Black (Stampin’ Up); Solar White (Neenah)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Other: Melon Mambo ink refill (SU); black satin ribbon (Offray); D’Vine Swirls embossing folder (ProvoCraft); standard circle and lacey circle Nestabilities dies (Spellbinders); half pearls (KaiserCraft)

I realized I’m starting to fall behind on my goal of sending 75 cards to Operation Write Home by the end of the month for their Duty. Honor. Cards. card drive.  I figured I’d better step it up by creating some quick and fairly simple cards.   Making multiple cards of each design, or near duplicate cards, is also going to allow me to make cards more quickly than trying to make each card unique.

So today I have two masculine cards using the same basic materials.  The first card uses Freshly Made Sketch #39 for the layout.  I haven’t made many “thinking of you” cards yet for this shipment, so that’s the sentiment I chose.

My second card roughly follows the same sketch.  This time I squashed it into a horizontal rectangular layout instead of a vertical rectangle.  I did the narrow strip differently – I attached it all the way to the top of the card, and gave the bottom of it a banner cut.

So now I have two more cards, and they really didn’t take long to make.  Now I’d better go work on some more!

All supplies are from Stampin’ Up unless otherwise noted:
Stamps: All Aboard, Three Little Words
Cardstock: Naturals Ivory, Chocolate Chip, Recollections designer series paper
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Other: classic rectangle and classic rectangle scalloped Nestabilities dies (Spellbinders)

Hello, and happy Friday to you!  Are you ready for another Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge?

This week’s challenge is right up my alley – use a digital image and create a Clean and Simple styled card, with no more than two layers (the card base doesn’t count as a layer).  Since so many of my cards tend to be CAS anyway, the big problem for me was deciding on an image.  I finally decided to use this week’s Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge sketch and make a Father’s Day card for my husband.  The background is a watercolor wash created with several colors of reinkers.  I added a bit of sponging to the die cut clouds to give them a bit of dimension.  I have to admit that fussy cutting the eagle was more of a pain than I thought it would be, but I think it was worth the effort.  When I was assembling the card none of the cardstock colors I was trying for the card base seemed to go right with the watercolored background.  So I made the last-minute decision to add the black mat to give some visual separation and definition between the background and the base.

To play along, link your card at the Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge site. Even though you can use a digi image from any company, we especially enjoy seeing what our challenge participants create using Sweet ‘n Sassy digital images!

It’s getting down to the wire for me to finish up Father’s Day cards for my husband, my dad, and my father-in-law!  Today I’m sharing the card I made for my family to send my father-in-law.

The layout for this card is a tweak of this week’s Sweet Stop Sketch turned on its side.  The background was created by watercoloring on white cardstock with several different ink colors.  The red squares were trimmed from the top of the main background panel.  I stamped the cattails image three times, omitting parts of it on the right side of the panel to allow room for the sentiment.  I also added in a grass image as “filler”.

Supplies:
Stamps: images from Serene Silhouettes (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps); sentiment from Dream Big (Lizzie Anne Designs)
Cardstock: Soft Sky, Basic Black (Stampin’ Up); Solar White (Neenah)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Other: corner rounder punch (EK Success); Soft Sky, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, and Riding Hood Red ink refills (SU)

I have to admit that today’s card really isn’t one of my best.  It’s not so bad that I wouldn’t post it, LOL, but I know it isn’t a “wow” card.  But that’s OK.  Some days just aren’t “wow” days and don’t turn out “wow” cards. And the card is still nice enough to include in the shipment I’m planning to send to Operation Write Home for the Duty. Honor. Cards. card drive.

So anyway, here it is… a rather CAS card using the current Dynamic Duos color scheme.

Supplies:
Digital Image: Lotus Flower (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)
Sentiment Stamp: Thank You Note (Hero Arts)
Cardstock: Basic Gray, Regal Rose (Stampin’ Up); Solar White (Neenah)
Ink: printer ink
Other: markers (Copic); dimensional adhesive (Scotch)

The current Lawnscaping challenge is to use patterned paper on your project.  As much patterned and designer paper as I have, that didn’t sound like too difficult a challenge, LOL!  But I did have a hard time deciding which papers to use, and with which images, and what type of card layout I would use.

I finally decided to create a scene with my newest Lawn Fawn stamp set, Critters Down Under.  I was super lucky to receive this set as one of the most recent new release prizes from the Lawn Fawn blog.  How cool is that?!?  😀  I used several different papers from my Basic Grey Phoebe 6″ x 6″ paper pad for the different elements of the scene, and added in a couple of papers from the Ambrosia pad for the koala and the kookaburra.  In an attempt to save my sanity from working with teeny little pieces parts, I chose to use markers to color the koala’s nose, the platypus’s bill and feet, and the bird’s beak, wing and tail feathers. That’s also why there’s no frilly fluffy stuff on the tops of the party hats.  And now I have another birthday card for my OWH stash!

Supplies:
Stamps: Critters Down Under, Hats Off to You (Lawn Fawn)
Cardstock: Soft Sky (Stampin’ Up); various papers from Phoebe and Ambrosia 6″ x 6″ paper pads (Basic Grey)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Other: markers (Copic); Cutterbee scissors (EK Success)

I took some time today to put together a card combining Freshly Made Sketch #38 with the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps June release party challenge of making a card using “cool” colors (blues, greens, etc.).  I had originally planned to do something using more different shades of blue and green and turquoise, but when I noticed I had a scrap of designer paper with blue and green that was the perfect size for one of the sketch elements, I decided to go a different route.  The pear stamp is a single pear; I stamped it, masked it and stamped it again to get my pair of pears.  I’m not sure if it was the cardstock or the marker colors I chose, but I had a harder than usual time blending the greens when I colored the pears.  Hmmm.  I may have to experiment with different cardstock and try to figure out what’s up with that. Anyway, it still makes a cute card to include in the box I’m putting together for the OWH Duty. Honor. Cards. card drive.

Supplies:
Stamps: Punny Fruits & Veggies (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)
Cardstock: Solar White (Neenah); Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, Everyday Enchantment designer paper (Stampin’ Up)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Other: markers (Copic); white grosgrain ribbon, corner rounder punch (SU)

Hi! It’s time for this week’s Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge! This week’s theme is “Back to Nature”. To play along, create a card using a nature-themed digital image, and link it at the Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge site. Even though you can use a digi image from any company, we especially enjoy seeing what our challenge participants create using Sweet ‘n Sassy digital images! More details about the perks you can get for participating are available on the Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge site.

I’ve used the Coneflowers and Butterfly image for today’s card.  Although the sentiment is taken from a digi set called Sentiments for Him, I think some of the sayings in it are versatile enough to be used for either a man or a woman.  The layout is one of my favorite OWH Stars and Stamps sketches, which I’ve dressed up with some Basic Grey designer papers.  Since this card is going in my stash for Operation Write Home, I opted not to use any bulky embellishments on it.

I’m looking forward to seeing what you create and link at the Sweet ‘n Sassy Digi Challenge site!  Have a great weekend!

Supplies:
Digital Images: Coneflowers and Butterfly, Sentiments for Him (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps)
Cardstock: Wild Wasabi (Stampin’ Up); Paper Basics White (Papertrey Ink); designer papers from Two Scoops 6″ x 6″ paper pad (Basic Grey)
Ink: printer ink
Other: markers (Copic)

The Dynamic Duos team came up with a bright color combo for this week – Real Red and Island Indigo.  It took a lot of thinking to figure out what I was going to do with these colors.  I finally decided to make a clean and simple birthday card for the Operation Write Home “Duty. Honor. Cards.” card drive.  Although I don’t have Island Indigo ink yet, I do have Copics that are really close to that color.  So I did some subtle color gradations in the letters on the card.  I stamped the party hat on a scrap piece of cardstock, colored it and cut it out, and used dimensional adhesive to keep the card from being so flat and blah.  I think the corner rounder gives a bit of a fun touch too.

Supplies:
Stamps: Quinn’s ABCs, Hats Off to You (Lawn Fawn)
Cardstock: Island Indigo, Real Red (Stampin’ Up); Vintage Cream (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Memento)
Other: markers (Copic); corner rounder punch (EK Success)

Our friends’ son is graduating from high school next weekend, so today I’m sharing the card I made for our family to give him.  Knowing that the school’s colors are green, gold and white made it easy to pick my color scheme.  It was fun trying to color the image to look like our friends’ son will look in his cap and gown.  I’m not sure if you can tell in the photo, but I even gave the graduate image a gold Beta Club tassel hanging from his mortarboard and a pale blue and white National Honor Society stole with golden yellow trim.  The marker colors do match the cardstock colors better in real life than in the photo.  I used Freshly Made Sketch #37 for the layout.

Supplies:
Digital Image: The Boy and The Dog 007 (Heather Ellis)
Stamp: Messages (Hero Arts)
Cardstock: Glorious Green, Summer Sun textured (Stampin’ Up); Solar White (Neenah)
Ink: printer ink; Onyx Black (VersaFine)
Other: markers (Copic); standard circle and petite oval Nestabilities dies (Spellbinders); small scalloped border die (PaperTrey Ink)
